Productivity Hack!
If you allow me, i want to tell you about RICE.
And i will share ChatGPT prompts that you can use to utilize this productivity method.
If you a graduate engineer, this is for you.
RICE - R is reduce, I is Increase, C is Create, E is Eliminate.
Say that you want to use year 2024 to help you understand TEMA (Tubular Exchanger Manufacturer Association), this will be your plan.
Reduce (R):
Objective: Streamline your learning process to focus specifically on TEMA standards.
Actions:
Identify the key sections of the TEMA standards that are most relevant to your interests or field, such as specific types of heat exchangers, materials, and design criteria.
Break down the standards into manageable sections for in-depth study, creating a structured learning plan.
Increase (I):
Objective: Enhance your knowledge and comprehension of TEMA standards.
Actions:
1. Enroll in courses or workshops specifically focusing on TEMA standards.
2. Study real-world case studies where TEMA standards have been applied, focusing on design, material selection, and operational considerations.
3. Regularly test your understanding through practice problems, simulations, or discussions with peers or mentors.
Create (C):
Objective: Develop additional resources or skills that supplement your understanding of TEMA standards.
Actions:
1. Create summary notes or cheat sheets for quick reference to key TEMA standards.
2. Engage in project work or internships where you can apply TEMA standards in practical scenarios.
3. Start a study group or online forum where you can discuss and clarify aspects of the TEMA standards with others.
Eliminate (E):
Objective: Remove obstacles or distractions that hinder your focus on learning TEMA standards.
Actions:
1. Identify and cut out less effective study habits or materials that do not contribute to your understanding of TEMA standards.
2. Allocate specific time blocks in your schedule dedicated solely to studying TEMA standards, avoiding multitasking with unrelated activities.
3. Limit the scope of your study to avoid being overwhelmed by too broad a range of topics outside of TEMA.
Monthly Breakdown for 2024:
Q1 (January - March): Familiarize yourself with the basic structure and scope of the TEMA standards. Begin with understanding different types of heat exchangers.
Q2 (April - June): Dive into specific materials and their properties, focusing on how they influence the thickness of tubes and design choices.
Q3 (July - September): Study the aspects of critical velocity, operational parameters, and their impacts on heat exchanger performance.
Q4 (October - December): Review and consolidate your knowledge. Engage in practical applications or simulations. Prepare a capstone project or presentation summarizing your understanding of the TEMA standards.
Regular Checkpoints:
1. Set monthly goals to track your progress.
2. Adjust your plan as needed based on these reviews.
ChatGPT Prompts as below [You can also use the free version!]
Prompt 1: Tell me about productivity called RICE. R for reduce, I for increase, C for Create and E for eliminate
Prompt 2: Use RICE if i want to fully understand TEMA standard. Suggest to me in step by step manner that by the end of 2024 i will fully understand TEMA standard. This will include type of heat exchangers, thickness of tube based on material, critical velocity and others in side the code.
Replace TEMA with other code and standard (i.e ASME VIII Div 1).
Wasap me at if you got stuck anywhere.
